The Punjab Deputy Chief Minister, S. Sukhbir Singh Badal today instructed officials of power department to ensure uninterrupted power supply for 8 hours during the paddy season to the farmers.
Presiding over a high level meeting here, the Deputy Chief Minister warned that no carelessness would be tolerated in this regard. He also directed to appoint nodal officers at block level under the supervision of respective Deputy Commissioners. “These nodal officers will submit daily reports after 15th June about duration of unannounced power cuts along with the names of the areas in which cuts have been imposed”, he instructed.
S. Badal also said the Punjab Government had ensured daily uninterrupted power supply to the farmers during paddy seasons since 9 years and this arrangement to serve the famers would continue. Elaborating more, he said the weather experts have predicted a good monsoon this season and the state government would make special arrangements concerning continuous power supply to the farming community. He also made it clear that the staff of 1905 grievances redressal cell of the Deputy Chief Minister would get feedback from the farmers during the current season about whether they have to face power cuts anywhere in the state?
