Hoshiarpur: Former Rajya Sabha member and Vice President of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), Varinder Singh Bajwa today declared his resignation from the party membership and all his posts in the party along with his supporters. He resigned in protest against the recent activities in Punjab. He sought resignation of all the Jathedars of five Takhts of Sikhs for disregarding the Supreme Institution of Sikhs, Sri Akal Takhat.
He alleged that the recent incidents of giving pardon to Gurmit Ram Rahim by Akal Takhat was very painful and the incident of taking back the Hukamnama has disregarded the Institution of Sri Akal Takhat. He said, “All the Jathedars must resign from their posts.”
Varinder Singh Bajwa also condemned the disrespect of Sri Guru Granth Sahib and police action against the protesting Sikhs.
Those resigned from SAD along with Varinder Singh Bajwa were MC Avtar Singh Kapoor (central working committe member, SAD), Hardev Singh Kothejattan (working committee member, SAD), Surjit Singh Ankhi (member General Council, SAD), Harjit Singh Soni (member General Council, SAD), Raj Singh Badla (Vice President, Hoshiarpur SAD), Avtar Singh Kandhala Jattan (member working committee) and others.
Notably, Varinder Singh Bajwa left the party and joined People’s Party of Punjab (PPP) in 2010 but he was re-inducted into the party during the election campaign of 2012 Assembly Elections.
