Punjab Govt. is keen to obtain Corneal Blindness Backlog free status for Punjab : Dr. Saini
Hoshiarpur: Assistant Civil Surgeon, Dr. Rajnish Saini conducted a meeting of the Ophthalmic Officers of Hoshiarpur district and directed them to identify corneal blind people in their respective areas. He informed that the health department would organize screening camps at various places on 9th and 10th October to screen corneal blind people and enlist them for eye transplantation surgery. Notably, World Sight Day will be celebrated on 8th October (second Thursday of October).
Dr. Rajnish Saini informed that the health department would collect the data about the corneal blind people during the screening camps and register it online. He said that the enlisted people would be directed for the eye transplantation surgery accordingly. He further informed that the Punjab Government is keen to obtain Corneal Blindness Backlog Free status for Punjab.
Dr. Saini further said if more and more people voluntarily declare to posthumously donate their eyes, it will be very helpful to enlighten the lives of corneal blind people. He asked the people to come forward for this noble cause.
