Mahilpur: Shiv Kumar Bawa: Robbers targeted a Bank Cash Van in the broad daylight today near village Raniala on Hoshiarpur-Garhshankar road and tried to cut the van with an axe. When the van driver tried to escape along with the van, the robbers fired bullets at the van. 2 gunmen were injured in the firing. The robbers failed to conduct the robbery.
Notably, the Bank Cash Van of State Bank of Patiala was traveling from Garhshankar towards Mahilpur for disbursing the cash to various banks in the area. Officials confirmed that the Bank Cash Van was carrying Rs. 31 Lakh.
The driver of the Bank Cash Van Rajesh Kumar claimed that the scorpio car was chasing the Cash Van from Garhshankar and attacked near Raniala (between Saila Khurd and Mahilpur) on Hoshiarpur-Garhshankar road. He said that 4 robbers were present in the scorpio car who came out and tried to cut the Cash Van with an axe.
Rajesh Kumar said that meanwhile he tried to run the Cash Van in the reverse gear and the robbers started firing bullets at the cash van. He said that gunman Jagdish Ram r/o Sanba (J&K) and gunman Jaswinder Singh r/o Tootomajara got injured in the firing.
When the Cash Van was running in reverse gear in a haste, it collided with a mini bus coming from backside. After the collision, the robbers got into the scorpio car and fled away towards Baddowan Sardullapur, thus the robbery attempt of the robbers failed.
The bullet has hit Jagdish Ram on his arm while it pierced into Jaswinder Singh’s chest. Both were immediately taken to Civil Hospital Garhshankar where the doctors referred them to Civil Hospital Hoshiarpur.
The Police force reached the spot in the leadership of SSP Dhanpreet Kaur and began the investigation. SSP Dhanpreet Kaur said that the Police have been investigating and have started a special operation to arrest the robbers as soon as possible.
