Jalandhar: A special team of Punjab Police have burst a Hawala racket and arrested 3 people. Police recovered Rs. 1,00,85,000 from them. The police have informed the Enforcement Directorate (ED) regarding the seizure of Hawala money.
As per information received, on the basis of a secret information, Amarjit Singh Bajwa, Assist. Inspector General of Police, Counter Intelligence Jalandhar dispatched a team of Counter Intelligence led by Insp. Harbhajan Lal and Insp. Nachhattar Singh who intercepted Tata Safari (PB08 CB 7544) in the area of Police Station Kartarpur and apprehended Rajinder Singh S/O Ranjit Singh r/o # 38 civil line, near Patel Hospital Jalandhar, Balbir Singh S/O Surinder Singh r/o # 63 Gali Zero, Avtar Nagar Jalandhar and Kishan Lal S/O Manohar Lal r/o # 45-A, New Dashmesh Nagar, Model House Jalandhar.
Police recovered Rs. 1,00,85,000 from their possession without any document which they brought from Amritsar. Police said Rajinder Singh is the main person who is running a Gujrat Enterprises, an invalid travel agency, opposite to Guru Nanak library, Jalandhar.
Police said that in the garb of running travel agency, Rajinder Singh was running an illegal Hawala Racket. He does not have any valid license for money exchange or western union. Balbir Singh and Kishan Lal were working for Rajinder Singh and collecting/distributing money on behalf of Rajinder Singh.
Police have informed the Enforcement Directorate (ED) regarding seizure of Hawala currency worth rupees 1,00,85,000 (One Crore Eight five thousand). Rajinder Singh and his associates were handed over to local Police of Police Station Kartarpur.
