Mahilpur: Shiv Kumar Bawa: A Government Elementary School in Hoshiarpur district has no teacher since 1st July, 2015. 64 students of the school come to the school in the morning everyday and return home after having mid-day meal.
It is noteworthy here that the lone teacher Avtar Singh of the Government Elementary School Maili died of heart attack on 1st July, 2015. Maili is a small village lying in the Kandi area of Mahilpur block of Hoshiarpur district.
The students open the school themselves and clean the school. They play among themselves for sometime. Meanwhile, the mid-day meal worker prepare mid-day meal for them and they return home after having mid-day meal.
Today, a team of Spot News India visited the school and found 62 students present in the school while only 2 students were absent. The building and other infrastructure of the school is good but some ceiling fans were out of order.
The villagers praising the former teacher Avtar Singh said, “Teacher Avtar Singh was a dedicated teacher who used to spend money for the students even from his own pocket.” They condemned the Education Department for not deploying a new teacher in the school. They also demanded the repair of ceiling fans and other things.
When, we talked to DEO (E) Mohan Singh Lehal, he said that he has no knowledge about the absence of the teacher from the Elementary School Maili.
