New Delhi: The oil companies slashed the prices of petrol and diesel by Rs. 2 each from last midnight, in whole India. But, it is not a relief for the diesel consumers of Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Chandigarh, Haryana and Delhi. All these states and Union Territories have hiked the Value Added Tax (VAT) which have increased the price of diesel in the respective states.
The approximate hike in VAT on diesel in Punjab is Rs. 1.28, in Chandigarh Rs. 4, in Haryana Rs. 2.68.
The overall relief for the diesel consumers of Punjab is Rs. 0.72
