Hoshiarpur: Aiming to make rural women economically self dependent, Cooperative Department has advanced more than Rs. 5.6 Crore to 2,383 women beneficiaries for setting up their own ventures like Dairy, Tailoring and Cutting and Beauty Parlour under Mai Bhago Istri Shakti Scheme in Hoshiarpur district so far.
Giving details, Deputy Commissioner Anindita Mitra said that the advances have been given under Mai Bhago Istri Shakti Scheme for making women able for contributing to their family income. As many as 223 Self Help Groups have been formed so far, where all women members will run the affairs by contributing money on monthly basis to advance to needy women members, said DC Mitra
“The active participation of women members in Cooperative Societies on one hand provides opportunities to these societies to get benefited from the experiences of these women members and on the other hand this participation also boosts the self confidence of these members which is beneficial to the society in many folds,” added DC.
Deputy Registrar, Cooperative Societies Hoshiarpur Mr. Santokh Lal revealed that under Mai Bhago Istri Shakti Scheme as many as 17 Training centers are being run in the district from where 349 women are getting training of various skills at present.
