Sri Anandpur Sahib: Raj Ghai: Today, the Punj Pyara park of Sri Anandpur Sahib witnessed a historical moment when a 81 feet high Khanda, made of stainless steel, was installed in the park.
The khanda was installed in the presence of Singh Sahib Giani Mal Singh (Jathedar, Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib), Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema, Education Minister, Punjab, Bhai Amarjit Singh Chawla S.G.P.C. Member, Manager Sukhwinder Singh Grewal and endless number of devotees.
A platform of 39 feet was constructed to install the Khanda in the park. On this platform, the Khanda measuring 42 feet high and 18 feet wide having weight of 300 kilos was installed, taking its height to 81 feet from the surface of the earth.
On this occasion Dr. Cheema said that this khanda would be dedicated to the entire sangat on 17th June by the Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal at the commencement of the 350th Foundation celebrations of Sri Anandpur Sahib. He also revealed that this Khanda has been prepared by Satnam Fabrication Moga under the supervision of Sant Baba Karnail Singh Tallewal (Barnala).
He said that this Khanda has been prepared in accordance with the Aero-Dynamic design at a cost of Rs. 22 Lakh in 3 months. He further elaborated that the aero-dynamic design would ensure that this Khanda withstands the air pressure. He also revealed that this 3 tonne Khanda has been made from 304 steel quality and also that the width of the bowl to be installed in this Khanda is 10 feet and deepness 3.5 feet.
He further said that this khanda has been installed on a foundation 39 feet high which has been given the look of Ramgarhia Bungas of Sri Harmandir Sahib. Disclosing more details, he said that after the rainy season, marble would be installed on it by 22 artisans of Agra and Dholpur in 3 months on the pattern of Virasat-E-Khalsa. He said that this would incur an expenditure of Rs. 20 Lakh approximately.
On this occasion S.D.M. Amarjit Bains, D.S.P. Sant Singh Dhaliwal, Amandeep Singh, Harjit Singh Acheet were also present.
