Dasuya: Parveen Singh Mangat: The impatience of a hasty bus driver killed a man at Uchi Bassi bus stop last night. The deceased man was traveling along with his family from Jalandhar to his village Uchi Bassi and when he was getting down the bus at Uchi Bassi bus stop, the bus driver suddenly accelerated the bus and he fell down from the bus. Police have registered a case against the bus staff under the charges of death caused due to negligence.
The deceased has been identified as Satpal resident of Uchi Bassi. Today, the family members of Satpal and the villagers were planning to stage a dharna at Dasuya-Pathankot National Highway against the police administration for not taking required action against the bus driver since last night.
Meanwhile, the police took action and registered a case against the bus staff and arrested the bus driver.
Sunil Kumar said that he along with his father Satpal, mother Shakuntla Devi, sister Hema and 2 other neighbours were returning from Jalandhar last night. He said that they caught a bus of Punjab Roadways from Uchi Bassi and at about 11 pm, when the bus reached near Uchi Bassi they went near the door of the bus.
Sunil said that the bus driver did not stop the bus and when they shouted for stopping the bus, the bus driver slowed down the bus. He said when his father Satpal tried to got down, the bus driver again accelerated the bus and his father dell down on the road.
Sunil said that the other passengers also shouted along with them and then the bus driver stopped the bus. He said his father had a serious injury on his head and they asked for help from 108 Ambulance. He said that they waited for the Ambulance for about half an hour and then rushed his father to Civil Hospital Dasuya on a bike. He said that his father died during treatment.
Satpal is survived by his wife, 3 sons and a daughter. The dead body of Satpal was cremated today.
