Hoshiarpur: Speaking in BSF Training Centre Kharrkan and at Police Recruitment Training Centre, Jahankhelan, here today, the Punjab Governor, Prof. Kaptan Singh Solanki strongly advocated the need to check the depleting ground water level. He said that the need of the hour was to preserve water bodies so that our coming generations would not face any problem.
Describing depleting ground water level as one of the major problems, Prof. Solanki said that water is one of the natures precious gifts to mankind. He said all living things consist mostly of water. He said that it was our moral responsibility to contribute towards water management and utilisation of water resources judiciously was the need of the hour.
Considering the importance of water as a life sustaining resource, Prof Solanki said that we should launch intensive awareness campaigns for optimum water utilisation and management. We should give information on different techniques of water collection, conservation and harvesting. He said that to save water, the ground water table should be properly recharged by water harvesting schemes.
Prof. Solanki also inaugurated Solar Fencing project completed with Rs. 25 lakh under M.P. Land Scheme by Rajya Sabha Member, Mr, Avinash Rai Khanna at Van Chetna Park old Bassi. He said that Solar Fencing would help in saving crops from wild animals. He said that Solar Fencing Project is unique and would help farming community.
Union State minister Mr. Vijay Sampla and Rajya Sabha Member Mr. Avinash Rai Khanna in their address said that there was an urgent need to make the people aware for saving the water resources. Mr. Sampla also announced Rs. 5 lakh for installation of water recharging units at PRTC Jahankhelan. On the occasion cabinet minister Chunni Lal Bhagat, assistant media advisor to CM Pb Mr. Vanit Joshi, Senior BJP leader Mohinder Bhagat, DC Smt Anindita Mitra, SSP Rajjeet Singh, IG BSF Mr. Anil Paliwal, DIG BSF H S Dhillon, Commandant PRTC Jahankhelan Mr. RK Bakshi were also present.
