Jammu: The plains of Punjab are witnessing the might of the Indian Army as its “Gurj Division” conducts Exercise ‘GURJ PRAHAR’ during the month of May. The Exercise is to validate & enhance operational readiness, test battle procedures and the synergy between the Army and the Air Force, in a joint operations scenario.
Over 8,000 troops, combat vehicles, tanks, artillery guns and surveillance systems are participating in the exercise. The exercise aims at training troops for operations in a fast moving and dynamic battlefield environment. It affords an opportunity to commanders at all levels to exercise their command and control, integrating the latest state-of-the-art assets of reconnaissance and surveillance into a network centric decision making matrix. The exercise will also validate the operational plans of the Division and some new operational concepts. The mental and physical robustness of the men and the endurance of the equipment will also be aptly tested in the scorching summer heat.
