Hoshiarpur: Deputy Commissioner Mrs. Anindita Mitra today informed that in order to maintain the soil quality for better yield of crops as many as 13,397 soil samples have been tested during 2014-15.
While addressing the meeting of District Agriculture Production committee, DC Anindita Mitra said the aim of testing samples was to guide the farmers to take steps for maintaining soil quality, in accordance with the results brought from these sample tests. Deputy Commissioner also informed that under quality Control Programme 600 samples of seeds, 155 samples of pesticides and 129 samples of fertilizers have also been collected in the district so as to ensure higher quality agro inputs to the farmers.
Chief Agriculture Officer, Dr. Manpreet Singh informed that in order to make the farmers aware of modern techniques of agriculture, two training camps at district level, 20 at Block level and 75 PCD Training camps were organized in the district.
Animal Husbandry department informed that 55 Dairy Units have been also established under beneficiary oriented programme during the current year.
