Chandigarh: Punjab Government have issued instructions to the local bodies department that the work will be allotted to the contractors as per the provisions in the Budget. This information was given today by the Cabinet Minister, Local bodies, Mr. Anil Joshi in a press release.
Mr. Joshi said that this decision has been made by taking into consideration the instructions of the honorable courts. He said that this decision will help the department for resolving all the issues regarding delays in the payments to the contractors. He said that after the instructions from honorable courts a committee was created under supervision of technical advisor Major General Bhatt. As per committee recommendations all the local bodies are instructed to take care of these instructions before starting any new project.
Local body minister said that these new projects will be started in the areas where the provisions in the budget and funds are available. He also said that the allocation of funds should be done after keeping aside the expenses of annual pension, maintenance, street lights etc. No new tender will be floated if funds are not available and joint commissioner will issue a certificate for this.
Local body Minister said that for the Municipal Corporations the nodal officers will be commissioner and for Municipal Council & Panchayat, Improvement trust nodal officers will be regional deputy director.
He sought the provisions for the allotment of work in the Budget of Punjab in order to keep the development works running.
