Hoshiarpur: In a humanitarian gesture, Hoshiarpur District has provided a monetary help of more than Rs. 8.72 Crore to its cancer affected residents under Chief Minister Cancer Relief Fund for undergoing treatment free of cost in empanelled hospitals for Cancer Treatment.
Divulging the details here today, Deputy Commissioner Mrs. Anindita Mitra said that as many as 792 Cancer patients had been covered under Chief Minister Cancer Relief Fund since its inception in the district.
Giving the breakup, she further said that during the year 2012, 237 patients were recommended for the treatment by the district level committee to the state government. All these patients were provided with free of cost treatment by the state as all the treatment expenditure worth Rs. 2,31,46,942 was borne by the state. Further in 2013, a total of 243 cancer patients’ cases were sent to the state, for which an amount of Rs 2,87,01,692 was paid by the state to the concerned hospitals for the treatment. Last year till December 2014, Rs 3.54 crore was sanctioned by the state to the various impaneled Cancer Treatment Hospitals for the treatment cost of 312 patients of the district, she added.
DC appealed the Patients undergoing/diagnosed with Cancer ailment for coming forward to avail the monetary help of Rs 1.5 lakh for undergoing treatment under CM Cancer Relief Fund.
Civil Surgeon Dr. Surjit Singh said that the Health Department of the Punjab Government has empanelled 16 hospitals for cancer treatment under CM Punjab Cancer Relief Fund Scheme and these hospitals have been instructed to purchase cancer medicines/Drugs on the rate contract finalized by the Health Department. A maximum amount of Rs. 1.5 lakh is provided to the cancer patients under the scheme.
