Bullowal: The Bullowal police have successfully solved the murder mystery of a newly wed woman at village Fattowal. Police said that a couple, close relatives of the family with an intention of robbing the golden jewelry of the woman, murdered her. A case has been registered against them at Bullowal police station.
SSP Raj Jit Singh in a press conference informed that Ashok Kumar s/o Sohan Lal r/o Ludhiana along with his wife Sunita came to village Fattowal (PS Bullowal) to visit his maternal aunt’s (Masi) house. He later cleared that they came with an intention of robbery.
SSP said that when all the family members slept, Ashok Kumar and Sunita went to the room of newly wed Gurmit Kaur and attacked her with sharp edged weapons and killed her. He said that they robbed her golden chain and golden anklets. Notably, Gurmit Kaur got married about 6 months ago and her husband went abroad after marriage and she was alone in the room.
He said that meanwhile, the other family members woke up after hearing the cries of Gurmit Kaur. Ashok Kumar and Sunita then attacked the father in law and sister in law (Jethani) of Gurmit Kaur and injured them. They fled away from the spot.
SSP said that they have arrested Ashok Kumar and Sunita and recovered a sharp edged weapon (Datar), a knife, a golden chain, a pair of anklets and a mobile phone from them. He said that an FIR has been lodged against them under section 302, 404, 307 and 34 of IPC.
It is noteworthy here that, Ashok Kumar is 37 years old and he is educated upto 4th standard. About 9 years back he got married to accused Sunita. They have three children aged about 7 years, 3 years and two months. Ashok Kumar was working in Hosiery industry in Ludhiana. He was without work for the last two months. His financial condition was not very sound and he has borrowed money from his friends and relatives. He was also in the habit of purchasing of lottery tickets. Therefore accused Ashok Kumar and his wife Sunita in a planned manner came to the house of Mohinder Pal with an intention of robbery in order to meet their expenses.
