Jalandhar: Chief Engineer, North Zone, Punjab State Power Corporation Limited, Mr. R. K.Sahi today said that in order to improve the power supply in Jalandhar city, Rs. 200 crore approximately are being spent under Restructure -Accelerated Power Distribution and Reforms Programme (R-APDRP) for replacing old cables and conductors, setting up of new sub stations, augmentation of existing distribution transformers, installation of new Distribution Transformers, shifting of electrical meters outside the consumers premises and on other alike works.
He further revealed that till date 405 existing Distribution Transformers have been augmented and 145 new distribution Transformers have been installed. “ Aiming to improve power supply scenario in Jalandhar, city known as heartland of Doaba, PSPCL`s concerned authorities are working constantly to complete the project as soon as possible. Besides installing new distribution transformers , 30.5 km new 11kv lines have been erected and 40.1 km existing 11kv lines have been augmented with higher capacity“ added chief Chief Engineer.
Revealing the efforts to curb electricity theft Mr. Sahi further said that 1843 meters have been shifted out of premises of consumers and moving ahead 256 electromechanical meters have been replaced with electronic meters. He also said that to reduce transmission and distribution losses in Non R-APDRP areas PSPCL has shifted about 80,000 meters outside the premises of consumers in pillar boxes in villages under Distribution Circle Jalandhar so far and the same revealed good results.
