Mahilpur: Shiv Kumar Bawa: A brave man, former Indian spy Surinder Pal Singh Mehmi resident of village Barian Khurd has been leading a very miserable life at this village. He remained in the prison of Pakistan for 9 years.
Inspite of his services to the Indian Government, the Government have not done anything for him. Surinder Pal Singh Mehmi said that he joined Intelligence Bureau (IB) in 1976 and he used to go to Pakistan to collect the information. He said that the Pakistan Army arrested him in 1976 when he was returning with some important information. He said that he remained in the Pakistan jail for about 9 years and when returned back to India he found that the Indian Government have disclaimed him as the constable of IB.
Surinder Pal Mehmi said that he then found that the financial condition of his family was very miserable. The Indian Government didn’t even gave him any type of financial help and he worked as a labourer while his wife also helped him to earn the bread through home dairy.
Surinder Pal Mehmi’s wife, Suresh Rani also disclosed that when her husband was in the jail of Pakistan, the Government of India stopped her pension and tried to depict that Surinder Pal Mehmi was not the employee of IB. She said that she then worked as labourer to earn the bread for her children.
Suresh Rani said that the Government have financially helped Kashmir Singh resident of Nangal Choran who returned a few years ago from Pakistan Jail. He further said that the Government have also helped the family of Sarabjit Singh.
She said that the Government must help them also because her husband was also in the jail for the nation.
