Chandigarh: Mr. Rahul Tewari, IAS, today took charge as Director, Information and Public Relations, Punjab. A 2000-batch Punjab cadre IAS officer is Deputy Chief Minister’s Special Principal Secretary, Director (Lotteries), and will now hold the additional charge as Director, Information and Public Relations, Punjab.
Mr. Tewari took over the charge from outgoing Director, Information and Public Relations, Punjab, Mr Ashwani Sharma at Punjab Civil Secretariat, here. Mr Gurwaryam Singh, Additional Director (Administration), and other senior department officials were also present during the occasion.
During a meeting with the department officials, Mr. Tewari urged them to make sure the policies of the Punjab government reach the common man. He said besides using newspapers, television and radio, new age technologies would also be used for this purpose. He said that the department would also take full use of social media for educating the masses about the policies of the state government.
38-year-old Mr Tewari basically hails from Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh, and prior to this posting, has remained as Deputy Commissioner of Bathinda and Ludhiana, besides being Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Ludhiana.
