Hoshiarpur: The Commerce and Industry Minister, Mr. Madan Mohan Mittal and Agriculture Minister, Mr. Tota Singh today inaugurated the Government Sand Mining at village Dagana Khurd near here. The Punjab Government have taken an initiative to control the prices of sand and gravel by mining and selling the sand through Government departments. The Punjab Small Industries and Exports Corporation (PSIEC) would mine the sand and gravel while the Mandi Board of agriculture department would transport and sell the sand.
Mr. Madan Mohan Mittal informed that this policy has been designed in order to relieve the General Public from the heavy prices of sand and gravel in Punjab. He said that the consumers could buy sand and directly from Mandi board at fixed prices. He said that the consumers can book the sand at the office of Mandi board.
He said that the Government would make a balance in the demand and supply of sand in order to tackle illegal mining. He further said that a regular check would also be kept on illegal mining.
He said that sand will be charged at Rs. 800 per 100 cubic square of sand. He said that the other sites would also be opened for Government mining.
