Chandigarh: The Punjab government has finalised a program to provide agriculture machinery to the farmers in the state on subsidized rates besides announcing subsidy too for manufacturers of agriculture machinery.
Disclosing this here today, an official spokesperson said that with a view to shortage of labour during peak sowing and harvesting seasons the state has decided to mechanize the agriculture sector by providing necessary agriculture apparatus besides encouraging farmers to adopt latest technologies to maximize agriculture production in the state. He said that for this purpose the government has invited applications on or before November 5, 2014 from the agricultural manufacturers for empanelment of the firms for supplying Cotton seed drills, planters, vertical conveyer reaper, sugarcane ridger, paddy transplanter walk behind, Paddy transplanter self propelled, Nursery tray, Nursery seeder and Hydraulic M.B.Plough on subsidy to the farmers in the state.
The spokesman of the Punjab government said that those implements will be approved which are as per the technical specifications of the department and are tested by the institutions/agencies approved by the central or state governments. He further said the prescribed format of specifications are available on the website www.agripb.gov.in.
