Chandigarh: The Punjab government has decided to observe the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel falling on October 31 as the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas as per the guidelines of the government of India.
Disclosing this here today a spokesman of the government said the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) would be observed every year. He said that there would be a pledge taking ceremony in all the government offices, public sector undertakings and other public institutions. The Pledge would be taken by all officers/officials and other employees to preserve the unity integrity and security of the nation and also strive hard to spread this message among all fellow countrymen. The vision and actions of Sardar Patel and his dedication towards ensuring the internal security of the country would be remembered on this day, he added. He also said that the motive of these programs is to inculcate the feeling of national unity, integrity and security among all Indians.
He also said that all the administrative secretaries, directors, district administration and the heads of all the educational institutions under the Punjab government have been asked to ensure the implementation of the directive of the government in both letter and spirit.
